Awards: Male and Female winners in the 50k, 50 mile, and 100k will receive a plaque.

All finishers will receive a certificate with event, distance, place, and time and an autograph from a former American record holder. Random prizes, gift certificates, and running books will also be given out.

Prize Money will be awarded to anyone who betters Jim’s old PR’s.

Who is Jim Pearson? He won the 1975 US 50 Mile Championships in an American Record time of 5 hours 12 minutes and 40.3 seconds! His time still stands as the 5th fastest 50 mile ever completed by an American. Jim also placed 3rd in the 1979 USA 50 mile National Championships, 2nd and 3rd in the USA RRA 100k National Championships (1979 & 1980), and 2nd and 5th in the USA 50k National Championships (1974 & 1976). Jim has also won other prestigious ultras and marathons such as the Oregon AAU 50 mile Championships, the Oregon 60k (4th fastest American all time), the Santa Monica 50 mile (Track, 6th fastest all time), the Coca Cola Ultra 100k in 7:07:49 (2nd fastest 100k ever completed by an American at the time.), and the Seattle, Victoria, Skagit, Portland and 16 Birch Bay marathons. Jim also placed 9th in the World Veterans marathon Championships in 1986. A two time Olympic Trials Qualifier in the Marathon (1972 & 1976) with a PR of 2:22:32, Jim coached Cross Country and Track and Field and taught English at Ferndale High School for 35 of his 36 years. In the trivia department, his 16 wins at the Birch Bay Marathon lead the world in most wins in a single event.
